Know where you are. Remember where you've been.

locate.me is a private, self-hosted geo-tracker for you and the people you trust. Find out where you are right now — with your address, weather and more — and keep a history of the places that matter.

What is locate.me?

A tiny web app that turns your phone into a smart location notebook. One tap tells you where you are and what the world looks like right there — another tap saves the spot, so you always find your way back.

Locate

Get your position with a fast, high-accuracy GPS fix.

Address

Your exact address is resolved automatically via OpenStreetMap.

Weather

See temperature, UV index and elevation at your current spot.

History

Every saved place stays on your personal list and map — with distance and its walking, biking and driving time, plus your own tags and comments.

Installable

Lives on your home screen like a native app — one tap to open.

Private

Self-hosted and only accessible to people you trust. Your location stays yours.

Install it like an app

Install locate.me as a Progressive Web App on your phone. It works and feels like a real app, with one tap from your home screen. You only need to do this once.

Android — Chrome & Brave

The steps are nearly identical in both browsers.

  1. Open https://locateme.srv64.de/ in Chrome or Brave.
  2. Tap the menu icon — top right of the browser.
  3. Choose “Add to Home screen” (Chrome) or “Install app” (Brave).
  4. Confirm with “Install” / “Add”.
Done — the locate.me icon is on your home screen.

iOS — Safari

Use Safari, not another browser or an in-app view.

  1. Open https://locateme.srv64.de/ in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button — the square with the up arrow at the bottom.
  3. Scroll and tap “Add to Home Screen”.
  4. Tap “Add”.
Done — the locate.me icon is on your home screen.
